Baking
Cakes are baked; so are cookies and biscuits. The mixture is allowed to cook at a high temperature within a preheated closed oven. The mixture used for baking is prepared before baking and transferred into a greased pan. Baked foods have a crunchy exterior and a soft interior. Some of the other food items which you can prepare by baking include pies and quiches. You can even bake vegetables for a healthier salad.
Steaming or Boiling
Steaming or boiling is a healthier alternative to deep-frying. Food items which you wish to cook is placed in water. The water is then allowed to boil on high heat. The time taken for cooking food under this method varies as per the desired doneness of the food to be cooked.
Steaming is also similar to boiling. The difference is that steaming is generally used to reheat a cold food item or dilute a thick food dish. Soups, stews, and curry-based vegetables are steamed.
Frying
Hot oil is used for cooking the food under this technique. There are two different frying techniques – shallow frying and deep frying. Foods like chips, fried chicken, and nuggets are deep-fried, while you prepare has browns or vegetables by shallow frying them.
If you use butter for cooking food, in a lesser quantity, then the frying technique is called sautéing. Stir-frying is used when you use 1 to 2 tablespoon oil. Onions, garlic, celery, and ginger are stir-fried.
Grilling
This is one of the healthiest cooking techniques. The food to be grilled is basted continuously with a sauce or marinade and cooked on a barbecue grill. The freshly cooked food eliminates all the bacteria from this food. You can grill potatoes, chicken, meat, fish, bell peppers, guava, pineapple, etc.
